DJ Snake Is My Electronic Music Hero
The Grammy nominated French DJ, William Sami Etienne Grigahcine is undoubtedly among the most favorite artists with his exceptional works on the genres of EDM, Trap, French House and moombahton. Yes, if you are a hardcore electronic music fanatic like me, you surely have guessed the name of this international artist –DJ Snake. With experience in working with renowned labels like Columbia, Spinnin’ Record, Mad Decent, Interscope and Premiere Classe, at the age of 32, DJ Snake has toured half the world and even in the remotest corners which rightfully speak on behalf of his popularity. “Lean On” in 2015 became one of the milestones in his career where he worked in collaboration with MØ, Major Lazer and MNelody Thornton, the Pussycat Doll. Under Billboard Dance 100, he was ranked ninth in the year 2018 for his phenomenal contribution to the EDMs and quite recently in October this year, his Taki Taki became one of the trending videos on YouTube. For me, his excellence lies not only in the songs he creates or remix but how he has conquered above the societal status from the ghetto-like Banlieue district of Paris where he spent his childhood with his Algerian parents. During my early fandom years, I often used to wonder as to why he came up with such an unconventional name like “snake” but later I found out his youth days when he was a master in evading police while making graffiti.If Avicii, one of my moist favorite electronic artists, started his music journey at the age of sixteen, DJ Snake was not far behind as his disc jockey career started when he was only fourteen years old and his first music production was in his 19th year.
If you ask me to name some of his tracks which are my favorite, it will be quite a fix for me. But Governor Hooker with Lady Gaga and Born This Way will definitely be among the top tracks on my list along with “Sexxx Dreams” and “Do What You Want” from ARTPOP.
The remix versions of “Bubble Butt” by Major Lazer, “It’s You” by Duck Sauce, “New Slave” by Kayne West and “You Know You Like It” by Aluna George are always played on loop while I drive. As much as I drooled over Fast & Furious 7, it was a matter of pride when Snake’s “Get Low” was featured in its OST soundtrack. As for now, “Middle” and “Talk” from his album named Encore are doing the rounds on my PC playlist!
